How do I change the background of a BookView Window?

In this post, we explain how to make a module layout set for theWord.

By David Cox

Actually this is very simple to do. Please remember that TW has an “internal memory” of these BookView windows that you set up, and basically every time you open a new one, it will assign it to an internal slot. So if you change the background on a new Bookview window (having 2 others open), and set it to something, it is in the third Bookview window “slot”. You use a different layout with only 1 Bookview window, you will have to follow the instructions below and redo all of this for the number 1 Bookview window slot. This tip is for those of you who like to “pimp up” their software-system… :) Here is an example of what it will look like…

Personally, I would only recommend pastel colors.

How to Make it

First of all open the Module Set Icon (click the triangle to the right of the icon).

Have you ever eaten Fried Ice Cream! Donate!
It is delicious, like apple pie with vanilla ice cream on top. But you know that you cannot have what is good without somebody paying for it. If you have enjoyed things on my website, please consider helping me out on the expenses and keeping it on the Internet. Can you consider at least a one time donation to this ministry of $10 or $20 dollars? I have a monthly total of about 96 gigabytes total being downloaded monthly from all of my websites. Be a blessing to me and donate any amount. It would be really great if you could gift me and my wife (she wants oa fried ice cream too) this money so that we could enjoy eating out at least once in a while. (I pay the expenses for these sites out of our living expenses.) God will richly bless you and repay you for your generosity. 1 Timothy 5:18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. If you received some value from my websites, consider at least a small donation. A big donation would really be nice, too, though.

They deep freeze the ice cream ball, and coat it with batter only a few seconds before they deep fry it, and then only fry it for a few seconds.

Here click the Options (for using an Image or a Color).

Click on the “Select…” option and then select an image from your hard drive. If you are using something you found on the Internet, you will need to download it to your hard disk first to now install the image here in “Select…”.

PROBLEMS: If you have don’t see the “Reader’s background image” option, try upgrading your version of TheWord. It is probably older.

Both of these options are pretty straight-forward. (Note that I set the color first with still shows on the left hand topics list, then the background image.)
Here are some examples… Enjoy!
Download the background image here (Right Click on Image and save to your hard disk, and then install with instructions above):

This is a great tutorial. Thanks! But on this topic, I don’t get the option “Reader’s Background Image” off the Module Sets drop-down menu–I only have “Reader’s Background Color” as a choice. Can you explain how to get the image choice? Also, you don’t explain how to install images once they’re downloaded.

Hi, I would updated the post to reflect what was missing. I think you need to upgrade TheWord to the most recent version. If it still isn’t there, write Costas or post this as an issue on theWord Forum and see if Costas can discern what is wrong. Most probably version problem to me. For reference, my version that I am using when I made this post is version 3.2.1.1218.

Yes, that would probably be the issue, then. I just downloaded the software today from the site’s home page! Yet it’s version 3.2.1.1167. One would expect to get the latest on the site’s home page, no? I’ll post this in the forum, then go hunting for an upgrade. Thanks.

Even though this feature is a beta version feature, shortly (in a few months) the next version of theWord should be out in which it is included as a standard feature. I am just “ahead of the game.” :)
