Visually Impaired Users
Class Objective: This class explains the TheWord options for using the program when you have eyesight problems.
Many legally blind people who can still see some are using computers as they can to study the Bible. TheWord has a few options that make using it easier for these people.
___________
General Suggestions
First of all, some of these types of people have talked to me, and there are system level helps that are applicable to all programs. I am no expert on these, but you should investigate them first before changing one program and fighting with all the rest on your computer.
I would recount an experience I had with one such user. He had a regular desktop computer, but purchased a large screen TV, and connected the computer output to his TV. The end result was a screen that was about 3 feet across that he could easily read. I would also ...

Faulty Module ID
Faulty Module ID. This is a problem that comes about sometimes when TW detects two modules with the same “supposedly unique” TW Identifier. This happens when module creators don’t check with Stergiou Costas, theWord creator, for a batch of Module IDs to use.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

What are TW Identifiers?
These identifiers are designed to make each module uniquely identifyable to the program, so when two totally different modules have the same identifier, you are asking for problems. TW uses this identifier when you make a hyperlink from one file to another file. So it is an important thing to be aware of. (If you have no links between modules, then it is not too critical, just bothersome.) Basically you need to go into one or the other and change the identifier. It would be best to advise whomever you got the files from about the matter, informing them ...

Skins in TheWord
By David Cox
Note that in TheWord, you can also make use of TW skins. These are predefined color preferences for the different windows (panes) in TheWord. Costas has also made it possible for your users to make their own skin color combinations (more about that after I get the rest of this site up and running).

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

To change the TW skin, go to the main menu option View -> Skins. By passing the mouse over the different skin names, it will temporarily change TheWord to that skin so you can “live” see what each skin is. This would be helpful if you are running more than one copy of TheWord at a time.

Identifying theWord Panes
CLASS OBJECTIVE: Identify, move (dock), resize, open, and close different sub-windows or panes within TheWord Program.
Identifying theWord Panes
TheWord comes with the menu area at the top, and the area below that which is where the various “panes” of the window appear. Basically there are 5 set window panes:
1) The Bible navigation window.
2) The Bible Window (called “BibleView”).
3) The Bible Search Window.
4) The Book Window (called “BookView”).
5) The Book Search Window.
Any number of these may be open at one time. You may close any of these by clicking on the “X” icon to close the pane (in the upper right hand corner of the pane). You can Maximize or Restore from Maximized by clicking on the open square to the left of the “X”.
How do I open these panes if they are not showing?
The short cut keys within TW to open a new window are the following:
New Bible View ...

Using theWord with Bad Eyesight
It happens to all of us almost. As we age, we get bad eyesight. This class is to help those who have failing eyesight, and they still want to read and study the Bible.

Good News
The good news is that theWord is very versatile. There are things you can do directly in theWord to help with poor eyesight problems. (See below).
Bad News
The bad news is that some things are hardcoded into Microsoft Windows, and to fix them, you will need to go into Microsoft Windows.
How to Make Windows 10 More Accessible For People With Low Vision

General Usage Help with theWord Bible Program
The first thing I would do if I were to suddenly have a very poor vision is to get two large monitors. theWord is one of those kinds of programs that adapts itself very easily to multiple monitors. Why use two monitors? The reason is very ...

Class Objective: To set up a TW layout with a Bible and Greek-Hebrew Lexicons (Dictionaries) for looking up words in a Bible passage.
The purpose of this class is to help the student work in Greek and Hebrew with theWord. theWord has a lot of flexibility in its layout. You can move windows, add, take away windows, and set up things as you want. But as any Greek or Hebrew student knows, this is for using one set of skills, original language study.

Most Bible students that know the original languages do not want to always use these skills, and they want to just “read the Bible in English” most of the time. So we can jump back and forth quickly.
Note that we are going to use the Windows Layout function, which is different from the Module Layout function.

On the main menu, click on View->Layout->”Save current layout”. This will save your current window ...
